5月18日，加州大學董事會經(jīng)投票決定成立加州大學伯克利分校計算、數(shù)據(jù)科學和社會學院(College of Computing, Data Science, and Society，簡稱CDSS)。這是該校繼1969年戈德曼公共政策學院成立后，50多年來的首個新學院。

CDSS學院將開發(fā)、實施和共享高質量的、以道德為導向和可獲得的課程，在數(shù)據(jù)科學、計算和統(tǒng)計學方面教育多樣化的學生群體。它還將通過開創(chuàng)性的多學科研究，以及利用伯克利整個校園的優(yōu)秀資源，為社會問題創(chuàng)造新的領域、應用和解決方案。

正如伯克利校長Carol T. Christ所說，這是一所將計算，數(shù)據(jù)科學和統(tǒng)計學方面的優(yōu)秀研究和教育與校園中的許多數(shù)據(jù)密集型學科聯(lián)系起來的新學院，將數(shù)據(jù)科學的力量注入多個學科，從基礎和應用科學到藝術和人文科學。

CDSS學院連接了數(shù)據(jù)科學本科研究項目、計算生物學中心、電氣工程與計算機科學系（EECS）、統(tǒng)計學系、伯克利數(shù)據(jù)科學研究所和巴卡爾地球數(shù)字材料研究所，提供了9個碩士課程和5個博士課程，其碩士課程將于9月開放24Fall申請。
